I traveled 38 hours to Freetown, Sierra Leone in April 2008. The seven days spent in this small country in Western Africa may as well have been spent on a different planet. Life in Sierra Leone is unlike anything I ever imagined. The UN ranked Sierra Leone the poorest nation in the world for the last five years. This classification is only a hint at the lifestyle of the Sierra Leoneans.
